22 Things People Routinely Did Until They Found Out It Could Kill Them

One of the most thrilling parts of being alive is knowing you can probably hurt yourself while doing literally anything. There are some things, though, that will hurt you more than others — like shaving when you’re driving or mixing the wrong chemicals as you clean the bathroom.

Redditors have admitted to some of the most dangerous things they used to do on a regular basis before realizing it could kill them, and if any of you are still smoking weed out of soda cans, please stop doing that immediately.

ladylew88 8y ago I used to leave my razor in the shower and use it up to two weeks at a time before disposing it. I never put the cover on or let it dry and it would sometimes get that tiny rust. It wasn't until I seen an episode of 1,000 ways to die where this woman cut herself with a razor that had tiny rust on it. It ate through her flesh and she died. Freaked me the fuck out! 6 ...

Widowmaker777 8y ago Like many kids, I would put stuff in my mouth. Not to eat, but just to play with. I had these Lego magnets that I would put in my mouth and use them to clamp down on my tongue. It was later in life I found out that if I had swallowed them, it could have killed me. 7 ...
SquirrelAkl 8y ago Aged 14-15, going to the beach with my friends at night, whenever there was a huge storm, to jump off the rocks. We'd swim around into a blow hole and the waves would crash in and shoot us 2-3m (6-10 feet) up through the blow hole and we'd land back up on the rocks where we started. So much fun, but how did we not die?! 16 ...

PangolinMandolin 8y ago Implem I've made rice dishes, then reheated leftovers a day or two later and eaten them too. Apparently leaving rice to cool for a period of more than a few hours can allow deadly bacteria to grow which are NOT killed when you reheat. Think I've been pretty lucky so far 107 ...
The-Beefbus 8y ago I have asthma, and when it was really bad, I used to take two albuterol treatments back-to-back. I probably did that for 8 years or so (only when I was sick, though) before I realized and looked up information that I could be messing with my heart pretty badly. 18 ...
