It’s been a long week for the producers of animated comedy shows.
The chaos started with The Simpsons, where keeping continuity apparently remains an extreme sport. In their latest episode, the show once again killed off a longtime character: Alice Glick.
This past Sunday’s episode, started with Mrs. Glick collapsing on the church organ. But fans online quickly noticed something odd: it wasn’t her first time dying. In Back in Season 22’s "Replaceable You,” Alice was already taken out — by a robotic seal baby.
According to Simpsons producer Tim Long, this death is permanent, “yep she's dead as a doornail.” Here’s hoping they finally let the old lady rest in peace.
But in another animated universe, fans are divided and fighting each other. After all, South Park’s Eric Cartman has committed some of the worst crimes in TV history over the past 28 years.
The debate made its way to Twitter, where some fans defended the character — while others, well, listed his many heinous crimes. Some even argued that Cartman could eventually grow out of his worst behaviors. But there’s no amount of reform that can undo all that death and destruction.
