Oh, to be young and naive…
This week, Netflix dropped Being Eddie, and while there aren’t a lot of new revelations, Eddie Murphy did share one story from his youth.
At Murphy’s 21st birthday party, he was approached by Yul Brynner, the star of The King and I. “He was with his wife.” Murphy recalled, “and he was like, ‘How would you like to come back to my apartment with my wife and party?’”
“Nah, I’m cool,” Murphy replied.
Years later, the comedian realized what Yul Brynner actually meant by his invitation. He joked that if he hadn’t been so young and naive, things might’ve turned out differently.
