Before we graduate from the fact-finding academy, we take an oath that includes a line about sacrificing our lives to find the best random TV facts on the planet. Some recruits just blow past this line as if it’s any other line, but we take a deep breath and appreciate its significance. We got into this profession knowing that this was a risk we’d take, but repeating those words out loud made it all too real.

We luckily made it back from this most recent mission, but a few others weren’t so lucky. We hope this makes you appreciate what you’re about to lay your eyes on.

Veronica Mars' creator sold out, but he acknowledged it. Toward the end of its run, Veronica Mars started using gratuitous product placement, and fans weren't too happy. Ken Jennings' record-setting run on Jeopardy! SMA THINK His 74-game winning streak lasted from June through November of 2004, and he became a household name. The streak netted him $2,520,700. CRACKED

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

Ed Toutant's second chance on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. In his first appearance, he lost on the $16,000 question, but he proved to producers that the question was flawed, and he was able to return. At the time, every non-winning game added money to the $1 million, so in his return, he won $1.86 million. CRACKED

ON 3 4 - adidas Audio In 2008, the Canadian filmmaker lured Johnny Altinger to his garage and murdered him after being inspired by Dexter Morgan. Freaks and Geeks

Canceled? Really? FREAKS AND GEEKS NBC gave it the dreaded Saturday night slot, then interrupted its run four times, making it impossible for fans to find it. Execs wished the characters were cooler, and canceled it just before a wave of shows about nerds and outcasts started becoming popular. CRACKED
