Robin Williams’ legacy is defined by his inimitable roles and incomparable comedy chops, but one of the late actor’s costars thinks Williams should have an additional, much more dystopian, claim to fame.
During a recent chat with Entertainment Weekly at San Diego Comic-Con, Matthew Lawrence revealed his Black Mirror-esque aspirations to make his on-screen dad, who died back in 2014, “the voice of A.I.,” saying the idea came to him after watching an unspecified commercial where the actor used a “computerized voice.” “During his passing, with the A.I. coming out, I’m like, ‘Man, he’s gotta be the voice of A.I.,” he recalled of his idea, which seems unlikely to go anywhere considering Williams’ daughter, Zelda, has openly spoken out against digital recreations of her father.
In Arlen, Texas, King of the Hill star Toby Huss is grappling with the legacy of his late costar Johnny Hardwick. Huss, who took over Hardwick’s career-defining role of Dale Gribble after the voice actor’s death in 2023, disclosed his approach to continuing on with the character during the show’s upcoming 14th season, explaining that he simply wanted to do right by his late colleague. “I’m not going to improve on what Johnny did,” Huss. “But I hope he approves of it.”
