25 of the Funniest Things People Feared As Children

It’s funny that children frequently have a wide variety of fears, but they’re all the wrong ones. They’re begging for a nightlight to keep the ghouls and goblins at bay, but meanwhile, they’re perfectly happy to get a running start and sled down a snow trail that ends in a giant skullcracker, borderline sequoia of a tree.

Looking back at the fears we had as kids, they’re charming in their straightforwardness. Yes, being attacked by a werewolf would be a nightmare. But at least you’d understand the danger you were in, unlike amassing an amount of debt that will chase you to your grave. Below, wax nostalgic for some delightfully simple childhood fears before we knew what dangers really lurked in adulthood.

For many years | used to pee, open the bathroom door, flush the toilet, and run like hell.

Hmariey 3то ago My aunt's goat. Seriously. She had a goat. My aunt lived nearby. She didn't like me and when she realized I was afraid of the goat she would stake it out on the path between our houses to discourage me from coming over to visit my cousin.

daveescaped 3то ago Being stabbed in the back while walking from my light switch to bed. I'd turn out the lights and nearly leap 2 meters across the room because I didn't want to leave my back exposed to a knife in the dark. No idea why I had this fear. Must have seen something on TV. Wasn't afraid of being stabbed in my chest. It just seemed so wrong to stab someone in the back because you can't ... easily remove the knife?! I do not know. I was 5. I'm 51 now and have no such fear.

Edit: On a funny side note I did watch some of Alien when I was really young, but for some reason the Xenomorph never really bothered me.
