Considering how mustaches have defined some of Hollywood’s brightest stars, fans were surprised when Cheech Marin chose to shave off his signature facial hair. In a recently released clip, it’s become clear the decision never sat right with his longtime comedy and smoke sesh partner, Tommy Chong, either.
“You still won’t grow your mustache back,” Chong quipped in a teaser for their forthcoming flick Cheech & Chong’s Last Movie. “You made such an imprint with that character, and then to have you not doing that, you know, it’s really hard to accept it.”
“I didn’t want to wear a mustache because I was doing other roles,” Marin replied. “And also it made me look older, and I didn’t want to look older.”
Marin may have good reason for reinventing his image, but Jay Leno is choosing to stay true to his brand of “super rich guy who may or may not be in trouble with the mafia.” The former late-night host recently took to the streets of Los Angeles from behind the wheel of a military tank, jokingly shouting “Neighborhood patrol!” at passersby while his head poked out from the roof of the armored vehicle.
