Inappropriate conduct with a student is an age-old reason for a teacher’s firing, but as these Redditors’ stories demonstrate, some educators are let go for decidedly less traditional offenses.
Case in point: One Redditor’s third-grade teacher was fired for her entrepreneurial prowess. She had a nice racket going — confiscating students’ Pokémon cards and then selling them to other kids at recess for 25 cents each. The only condition for the exchange was that the kids couldn’t take the cards out during school hours. Obviously, her scheme fell apart, which is what happens when you make business deals with children.
Other Redditors have shared the wild reasons their teachers have gotten the pink slip, and there’s at least one meltdown that involves an entire jar of salsa.
