22 of the Most Brutal Rejections People Have Ever Received

There’s no easy way to reject someone, but there is a way to be gentle about it. Some people don’t consider this fact, and choose cruel methods of rejection that verge on psychological warfare. These are some of those stories.

One Redditor decided to give online dating a chance. The freshly divorced 30-year-old set up a date with what seemed to be a nice young woman. They met for dinner, but before they could even sit down, she said, “Oh, you’re much uglier in person.” Then she immediately left. Although that sounds impossibly hard to recover from, the Redditor eventually met someone else and has been happily married for a decade.

Other Redditors have shared the harshest ways they’ve been turned down, and one rejection was so cutting that it prompted a guy to move 2,000 miles across the Atlantic.

xMYxJOKESxSUCKx 8y ago I was at a party in high school and I made a move on my crush at the time. She turned me down quickly, and that was that...until the next school day. KingFenrir . 4y ago . Edited 4y ago Male During my early 20s, a friend invited me to a club and i went. I ask a girl to dance and she said no thanks, but you can with my friend, the girl next her replied annoyed with no, you should dance with him, he asked you!, and then they started to argue each other for feeling insulted, i left them both because i already got it. Basically both girls escalated the argument over me like i was some kind of punishent for the one who loses.

Missy_Agg-a-ravation 4y ago Male When I was at high school, 14 years old, I decided to ask Louise, a girl from my class, out on a date. Unfortunately, I decided to do this at lunchtime, and right after I had finished a bag of Cheese and Onion flavoured crisps. I sat next to her and started to talk to her, but before I even got to ask the question, she caught wind of my breath and said - and these words are tattooed on my soul - oh fuck off, you stink. It's been 32 years, and I still blame the crisps. - 7.2K

10mo ago Edited 10mo ago Many years ago, after getting divorced at 30, | hit the online dating scene. I had essentially never dated as an adult having met my ex-wife in college. | was not prepared for how brutal online dating was. This was in the match/eharmony days, not the apps. First online date, we meet up at a restaurant. She walks in, sees me, and says Oh, you are much uglier in person and walks out. Doesn't even sit down. Everything turned out fine, been happily married for 10 years again. But I thought that was pretty

10mo ago Oh man... so before I was bartending I also worked in alcohol retail supervising a liquor department. There was this cute redhead who would come in a couple days a week after she got off work, and would literally spend thirty minutes or more talking to me every time. Tons of questions about life in general, shared a bunch of her personal problems etc. if I was on lunch, I'd always eat my lunch on the bench outside in the shade, and she would even come sit by me there (literally asking people inside where I was)
