41 of the Funniest Tweets from the Week of January 6, 2025
It was a good week for Adrien Brody.
The actor took home the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for his performance in Brady Corbet’s visionary postwar epic The Brutalist, which is a win that will likely set Brody up for his second Oscar nomination and win. But it also reminded fans of a different Brody performance that definitely didn’t garner any awards. Social media resurfaced the now-infamous SNL sketch of the actor speaking in fake Patois before introducing musical guest Sean Paul. It turns out, though, the actor wasn’t actually banned from the show after the debacle. According to Brody, he could return to SNL if Lorne Michaels asked him back. But based on what other writers had to say about his bad pitches at the time, that’s a very big “if.”
The Globes were also very kind to Nikki Glaser. In fact, her hosting debut for “Ozempic’s biggest night” went so well that Globes’ producers have already tapped her for future shows. According to Deadline, the roastmaster inked a three-year deal with the show, and is set to return for the 2026 and 2027 ceremonies. If that happens, Glaser would join Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as the select few to host the show multiple times.
In less glamorous news, wildfires have hit several parts of Los Angeles, causing mass destruction. Celebrities, even those who have been impacted themselves, have opened up their checkbooks to pledge aid to the victims of the widespread inferno. Seth MacFarlane also picked up his pen to help — by drawing Family Guy’s Brian Griffin and thanking the “amazing” firefighters for their selfless service. Naturally, the useless doodle is being roasted on the timeline and likened to the tone-deaf cover of “Imagine” that was supposed to “boost morale” during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over on the timeline, it was one hilarious tweet after another. This week’s funniest included those about white people directions, a seated ovation and a war on the Normal Man.
