Ted, we’re not in Kansas anymore. 

Ted Lasso writer and star Brett Goldstein confirmed a fan theory that links the Apple TV+ show to an unlikely piece of source material. Between a pair of red sneakers and a Wizard of Oz pinball machine, fans seem to think that the soccer comedy is an allegory of L. Frank Baum’s classic. When asked, Goldstein very assuredly offered, “There’s loads and loads of The Wizard of Oz in Ted Lasso.” Goldstein went on to confirm which characters align with Oz’s finest, before adding, “I’m sure this is going to cause a lot of trouble.” Much like Dorothy, Ted followed the yellow brick road and returned to Kansas by the show’s conclusion, so while there’s no official confirmation on whether or not a fourth season will happen, it seems that particular chapter is over at least.

Meanwhile, the Kennedy Center is getting a visit from the queen — that is, Queen Latifah. She will host the 47th annual Kennedy Center Honors, which “recognizes and celebrates individuals whose unique contributions have shaped the way we see ourselves, each other and our world.” Latifah was a recipient of the esteemed honor last year, while this year’s honorees include Francis Ford Coppola, The Grateful Dead and Harlem’s Apollo Theater.
