Sometimes, you’ve just gotta laugh at it.
It’s no secret that Donald Trump always has something to say—usually something nasty—about any comedian who dares joke about him. And his Truth Social account offers so many examples to choose from.
On Stephen Colbert: “I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings.” Or on Seth Meyers: “His ‘show’ is a Ratings DISASTER. Aside from everything else, Meyers has no talent, and NBC should fire him, IMMEDIATELY!”
But what’s surprising is that he hasn’t said anything about South Park — a show that’s been brutally relentless with him. Why is that?
According to the comedian Patton Oswalt, it may have something to do with money and ratings. “Nothing shuts Trump up like money,” Oswalt said this week on the Last Laugh podcast. “South Park, not only does it make an insane amount of some money, it gets insane ratings,”
Oswalt says that Trump’s metric for success is all about the numbers. And clearly, South Park has a massive audience — plus, its producers recently secured $1.5 billion to make more episodes. So maybe that’s why he’s staying quiet.
Another platform where the numbers are huge and nobody ever stays quiet is Twitter. Today’s funniest features some very concerned tigers, a parking scam recommendation and a very precise email.
