Some of us are better at delegating tasks than others. That's just a fact. But it's probably because we all delegated tasks in the past, trusting our partners to do a good job, only to find that they didn't care as much as we did, so we were left dealing with the consequences on our own. That leaves a mark on everyone's reputation, and you can't trust anyone anymore, not even yourself.
For some people, common sense works the same way. You trust you got it under control and that you're doing the best you can, but when even that starts to fail, you get lost. Your common sense doesn't seem to be working properly anymore, so you don't use it as much until you totally forget about it. And things don't get any better after that, but it's already too late.
