50 of the Funniest Tweets from the Week of October 6, 2025
This week, comedians who performed at the Riyadh Comedy Festival failed to regain control of the narrative.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Aziz Ansari claimed he went to Riyadh to “push a dialogue” without clarifying what that dialogue entailed. When Kimmel pressed him further, saying that the people who paid the performers were “not good” and “killed a journalist,” Ansari said he was “just trying to do a show for the people,” and would maybe give “part of his fee” to organizations like Human Rights Watch. Yes, the very same Human Rights Watch that begged comedians like Ansari not to go in the first place.
Bill Burr also chose to double down, and was equally unconvincing. Burr decided the best course of action was to accuse “bots” of taking his comments out of context. To be clear, Burr’s comments included “the Royals loved it” and “it was a top three experience,” words he uttered on his very own podcast. But he also wanted to make sure we all knew that women were allowed there, as evidenced by the “four smokeshows” who sat right up front, and that yes, diplomats were there “to make sure you didn’t talk about the two or three things that they said — that they negotiated down to not talk about.” Beyond that, Burr sidestepped any criticism from fans about being a blood-money-accepting fraud.
Luckily, over on the Twitter timeline, no one was sidestepping the opportunity to make us laugh. This week’s funniest tweets included those about a butch iced coffee, students who couldn’t be bribed and pasta carbonara.
