50 of the Funniest Tweets from the Week of September 8, 2025
After “seven unforgettable seasons” on Saturday Night Live, Ego Nwodim is officially saying goodbye. The comedian headed to Instagram on Friday to announce that contrary to reports claiming she’d be returning for SNL’s 51st season, she won’t be heading back to Studio 8H this fall after all.
“The hardest part of a great party is knowing when to say goodnight,” Nwodim began her post, before thanking SNL’s cast, crew, writers and creator Lorne Michaels. “Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined,” she continued. “I will carry those memories (and that laughter) with me always.”
Though fans will have to wait and see how Nwodim’s co-stars react to her surprising announcement, Bowen Yang recently sounded off on Heidi Gardner’s departure from the show, recalling how the actress served as “a true anchor” of the series. “You are one of the greats,” Yang said to a somewhere-listening Gardner during a recent installment of his Las Culturistas podcast. “You will go down in history.”
Chloe Fineman also took a moment to acknowledge Gardner’s “shocking” SNL exit, explaining that even through her “heartbreak” and “sadness,” she’s confident she’ll remain close with her former co-star. “You always experience (turnover), but these people stay in your lives,” Fineman said during a recent TV appearance.
Much like these SNL cast members, we’re sure you’ll be thinking about these hysterical tweets for weeks to come. This week’s funniest included those about “I Show Steve,” the struggles of meeting John Cena and how non-smokers get through a bad day.
