“What’s the deal with New York City apartments?”
That’s the question that fans of Spider-Man and Seinfeld have found themselves asking after the inaugural issue of Marvel’s The Amazing Spider-Man hit shelves last week. After getting a glimpse into villain The Rhino’s home, a few eagle-eyed fans felt the illustrated New York City pad looked more than a bit familiar, serving as a near-identical copy to Jerry’s apartment throughout the beloved ‘90s sitcom.
Quickly going viral on social media, Redditor paul_33 managed to put the guerrilla crossover into perspective by paraphrasing one of Elaine Benes’ Season Two foes. “There are no big coincidences or small coincidences, just coincidences,” they wrote on a Reddit post, quoting Rava, a Finnish writer featured in “The Statue.”
Meanwhile, the late Val Kilmer was against paying a decidedly less wholesome tribute — to himself. During a recent episode of The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast, Lonely Island alum Jorma Taccone revealed the joke that crossed the line for the late film star, and it involved a whole lot of head. “We did want to cut his penis off and shove it in his mouth,” Taccone explained of a scrapped concept for his critically-panned 2010 comedy. “That was the one joke that he did not want to do.”
I can’t blame Kilmer for not wanting to blow himself (or his detached penis), and I also can’t blame you for finding these tweets absolutely hilarious. Today’s funniest include those about drinking Duracells, saying “hello” in Mandarin and punctuation as proof of our humanity.
