Though an Irish Goodbye is often reserved for bloated wedding ceremonies, awkward work happy hours and very drunk nights out, country artist and SNL musical guest Morgan Wallen decided to bring the classic exit to 30 Rock last week. Wallen’s abrupt goodbye was punctuated by a seemingly snarky — and now memed-to-death — Instagram post.
“Get me to God’s country,” he captioned a photo of his private jet arriving back in Nashville shortly after the televised incident. The series of snubs baffled fans as well as longtime SNL cast member Kenan Thompson, who parsed the controversial post in a sitdown with Entertainment Weekly. “The ‘God’s country’ of it all is strange because it’s like, what are you trying to say? You trying to say that we are not in God’s country?” Thompson said of Wallen’s post, dubbing it as “not necessarily my favorite.”
Meanwhile, on Thursday night, Bill Burr decided to let his wardrobe do the talking during his guest spot on Late Night with Seth Meyers, sporting a pale pink sweater in an attempt to “give the trolls something to talk about.” “There’s going to be a bunch of, *meathead voice* ‘He’s wearing pink now on this liberal show, what is this some woke shit?’” Burr said of his outfit choice.
Regardless of your thoughts on a pastel-clad Burr, there is one thing we can all agree on: This week had a whole lot of hilarious tweets. The funniest included a knuckle tattoo for dog lovers, House boxers and one very hung jury.
