45 of the Funniest Burns from the Week of November 10, 2025
This week felt extra long, especially if you were on Sydney Sweeney’s PR team.
Once again, Sweeney was all over the news and the internet. This time, she made headlines for promotion of her latest movie, Christy, which was nothing short of disastrous.
The movie focuses on Christy Martin’s perseverance, and amid the press cycle, Sweeney exercised a little perseverance of her own by refusing to apologize for her “good genes” ad with American Eagle and subsequently becoming popular with right-wingers.
People on Twitter didn’t take long to point out that with Christy, Sweeney “deliberately courted an audience that does not support or care about her,” and, in response, they didn’t support or care about her new movie.
Eventually, social media conversation about Christy got so bad that Sweeney’s PR team reportedly started emailing critics and asking them to change their headlines about the film. Even actor Ruby Rose, who was initially part of the film, commented on the controversy on Threads: “For her PR to talk about it flopping and claim SS did it for ‘the people’… None of ‘the people’ want to see someone who hates them parading around pretending to be us.”
People on Twitter had plenty of thoughts this week, few of them gentle. This week’s funniest burns include a sassy grandma, a not-so-useful mug and a breathing competition.
