The creators of South Park and Family Guy famously hate each other, but they’re likely celebrating the downfall of a common enemy.
Conservative-founded media watchdog group, Parents Television Council (PTC), was once notorious for pressuring networks to pull both animated series from the air for crass language, violence and degeneracy. The shows’ creators, of course, found this hilarious, and in one instance, Seth MacFarlane celebrated being on the receiving end of such Christian rage by saying that it was “like getting hate mail from Hitler.” But after 17 years, it appears the PTC’s reign of terror has come to an end, as it’s filed for bankruptcy, thus ending any relevancy it once had.
Meanwhile, Bill Burr is on a downward spiral of his own. Earlier this week, Burr appeared on Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend and accused “bots” of stirring up fake outrage over his decision to perform at the Riyadh Comedy Festival. In response, fans recently shot back by claiming that “Bill Burr’s hired PR shills” allegedly lurk in r/BillBurr and r/Conan. There’s no clear way to tell who’s hopping online to defend Burr in exchange for cash, but it doesn’t matter. Many unpaid Redditors are busy voting on derogatory nicknames for their fallen funnyman.
Thankfully, over on Twitter, people are more hilarious than ever. Today’s best tweets include those about an invention for real smokers, successful bullying and a question for flat earthers.
