Bill Hader is finally opening up about his decision to sit out SNL50. During a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the Barry star discussed missing the soiree, ironically citing anxiety (and a case of shingles) with stopping him from appearing in Andy Samberg’s “Anxiety” sketch.
“When he told me about it, I was like, ‘I don’t know if I want to do that,’” Hader recalled of his discussion with The Lonely Island icon. Despite citing his mental health and telling Samberg “I’m anxious, I don’t want to do it,” his pal wasn’t sold. “Come on, man!” the Brooklyn Nine-Nine lead whined back. “What do you mean?”
While Hader stripped down emotionally, filmmaker Matthew Stubstad literally let it all hang out. In an interview with Cracked’s Brian VanHooker, Stubstad shared what it was like to be the naked guy in the newly-released Naked Gun, explaining that some of the film’s stars not only treated him “like an equal,” but also offered him some words of encouragement.
“In between takes, Liam Neeson was like, ‘Hey, Matthew, you’re doing great, man,’” Stubstad remembered. “Danny Huston was joking with my wife like, ‘You’re a lucky lady, look at this guy!’”
