35 Dangerous Hobbies People Love

Hobbies can take your mind off the horrors of the world. That is, unless your hobby is sword swallowing, in which case you’re a hiccup away from becoming one of the horrors of the world.

But that’s not the only dangerous hobby you can pick up. Blacksmithing is hazardous on a few levels. Aside from the sparks and flying debris, there’s risk in choosing the kind of metal you use. A Redditor admitted that he’s not a professional in the craft, but that he and a few friends forge knives out of scrap metal a couple of times a year. He recently learned, however, that people have died or gotten seriously ill from using the wrong scrap metal, as some paints create dangerous vapors and some metals are alloys that shouldn’t be heated. Scary stuff!

Other Redditors have shared the things they do for fun that could easily send them to an early grave, including tornado chasing, spelunking and rehabbing pinball machines.

f0k4ppl3 9y ago Plastic modeling. People don't realize the dangers involved. Plastic cement is highly toxic. So are enamel, lacquers and acrylic paints. X-Acto knives are extremely sharp. Plastic model parts can shoot off at incredible speeds if not cut from the trees with caution, impaling themselves in a person's eyes, nose, ears or piercing their jugular vein or chest cavity. Airbrush hoses can explode without warning. Airbrush compressors can catch on fire at random. The fumes from airbrush spray can overcome an adult and cause them to faint, toppling the liquid plastic cement off the table which could land

panzercthulhu 9y ago blacksmithing.
