25 Experiences Younger Generations Will Never Have

Certain experiences get lost to time with every passing generation. Betamax tapes are an ancient relic, “blockbuster” doesn’t refer to the store anymore and most Neopets are dead.

All of those sentences sound like gibberish to anyone born after 1999.

One Redditor misses the pure exhilaration of hearing their favorite song on the radio. If a Zoomer wants to listen to a song — new or otherwise — they can open any number of streaming services and listen to it on demand. Decades ago, we had to sit through commercials, listener contests and dozens of other songs in hopes of hearing the track we were waiting for. But this Redditor loved the build-up of anticipation and then explosion of utter joy when the Duran Duran song they requested finally hit the airwaves.

That’s not the only thing younger generations are missing out on. Many other Redditors have remembered different traditions lost to time, including appointment television, fan clubs and the diligence they learned from Saturday morning cartoons.

dashboardbythelight 4y ago Are fan clubs still a thing? Despite literally paying to be a member, | felt so cool and exclusive as part of the Spice Girls and Buffy fan clubs.
