Oh, the places you’ll go with Jon Chu!
The Wicked director’s next movie is set to be a musical adaptation of the Dr. Seuss classic. He’s co-directing the film with storyboard artist Jill Culton, who helped bring Monsters, Inc. to life, and it will feature music from EGOT-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The animated film will follow “a young adventurer as they journey the joys and heartaches and the peaks and the valleys of life.”
Roseanne Barr is also taking us some places, but it’s probably not anywhere you’d want to go. After being barred from her eponymous show, the controversial comedian told Variety that she’s ready to return to the small screen with a brand new, “very offensive” comedy about an Alabaman “saving the United States from drug gangs and China.” The series, which Barr described as a “Coen Brothers thing,” will be a cross between Roseanne and The Sopranos, with storylines about “guns, the Bible, petty crime and alcoholism.”
As for the timeline, it, of course, is where the real comedy lives. Today’s funniest tweets include those about the role of a lifetime for Melissa McCarthy, February’s budget and a disclaimer that really could’ve used a comma.
