You’ve probably heard Steve Urkel’s nasally “Did I do that?” a million times in your life, but it took a lot of work for the Family Matters crew to land on that iconic catchphrase. Jaleel White joined a few fellow child-stars-turned-podcast-hosts on Pod Meets World and revealed that the show tried a handful of other possible options first — from the well-known Life Alert slogan to a simple “Excuse me” after bumping into inanimate objects. But none of them received the immediate reaction from the live studio audience quite like, “Did I do that?”
Speaking of Urkel, the accident-prone nerd served as one of the many inspirations for tonight’s highly-anticipated Abbott Elementary/It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover. Star and show creator Quinta Brunson told Late Night host Seth Meyers that it was mind-blowing to see Urkel with D.J. and Stephanie during White’s cameo on Full House, and that the crossover episode used to “really get (her) going.” Brunson also credited “That’s So Suite Life of Hannah Montana,” a mega-crossover with three of Disney Channel’s biggest hits during the early aughts, as another driving force behind this City of Brotherly Love crossover.
