50 of the Funniest Tweets from the Week of December 30, 2024
ABC ushered in the new year with a glimpse of what’s sure to be one of the buzziest television events of 2025. The network released the first teaser of actual footage from the long-hyped Abbott Elementary/It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover. While the trailer has raised more questions than answers as to what those Paddy’s Pub degenerates are up to in Abbott’s hallowed halls, we have faith that all will be revealed when the two-parter begins airing next week.
Over at 30 Rock, Weekend Update’s annual joke swap is still eating away at Michael Che and Colin Jost. On his podcast with The Lonely Island, Seth Meyers shared that he texted Che and Jost to tell them that the most recent version of the recurring bit was an “incredible six minutes of television,” noting that the two responded “in a way that made it clear that they were haunted by the experience.”
We also learned this week that Chris Pratt will do whatever it takes to defend Jerry Gergich’s honor. Jim O’Heir’s Parks and Recreation retrospective, Welcome to Pawnee: Stories of Friendship, Waffles and Parks & Recreation, includes a conversation between him and Pratt, where the latter recalled putting his foot down over some “mean-spirited” jokes. “I was concerned in some of those moments because I care about you and I love you, and I knew that there were some jokes that were, like, mean,” Pratt explained. “But meaner than they were funny.”
One scrapped joke in particular involved a printer gag that printed out pages that read, “Jerry sucks,” which went too “too far” according to Pratt.
We’re obviously just a few days into 2025, but it’s already very clear that we’re in store for another great year of tweets. This week’s funniest included those about the only in-and-out list that matters, the end of Toyotathon and someone taking an annual tradition very, very seriously.
