HBO just doesn’t know how to quit Bill Hader.
After a wildly successful four-season run with Barry, Hader and writer Duffy Boudreau are teaming up to develop a new comedy series for the network. While there’s no working title or casting information available yet, Variety was able to secure a logline: “A woman in a small town has a big secret revealed.” The brief summary obviously doesn’t summarize much, but it’s just enough to pique the interest of fans who have a Barry-sized hole in their heart.
Much like Hader, a robotic cop is returning to TV as well. Amazon has been actively developing its RoboCop series since acquiring MGM, and according to Deadline, they’re making progress. The streamer’s take on the 1987 film will see “a giant tech conglomerate collaborating with the local police department to introduce a technologically advanced enforcer to combat rising crime” — i.e., the titular RoboCop. The series will come to life with the help of monster producer James Wan alongside showrunner Peter Ocko, who previously had a short stint on The Office.
Meanwhile, the comedians on the timeline are hard at work keeping us entertained as usual. Today’s funniest tweets include those about the importance of deranged experiences, Remy versus Stuart Little and the reason you’re never alone.
