‘What if Germany won WWII?’
24 of the Biggest Historical What-Ifs

If you’re a subscriber to the multiple universes theory, you can imagine an almost infinite number of universes, each branching out from a decision in time. Now, some of these universes might not be so different. The one where you choose a peach-pear LaCroix is probably pretty similar to the one where you chose pamplemousse. At least, without involving chaos theory, but now we’re really going off the deep end.

Some decisions and events, however, would be dramatic forks in the future of their universe. Redditors suggested some of the most interesting what-if moments from history, ones that would send alternate-us on a wildly different road.

Read on and imagine what might have been, whether it’s good or very, very bad.

Hydrocrbn . 1y ago Operation Unthinkable https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation Unt hinkable The idea was that at the end of WWII, what if the British and American forces attacked the Russians? The British didn't think they could do it without the American forces, but think of how different the world would be today if they won, or lost.

MonsieurGump 1y ago What if Blucher had been a little bit late? Napoleon would have won at Waterloo but then been wiped out by the 400,000 Russians and Austrians that were on the way. This would have seen Russia in control of France quite possibly up until now.
Mindless_Anxiety_350 . 1y ago What if the Mongols were NOT defeated at Ain Jalut, and successfully pressed into Arabia and North Africa through Egypt?

TheRexRider . ly ago What if leaded gas wasn't a thing?
I guess also what if Bobby Kennedy had lived and won the Presidency in '68 I feel like he could have been a force for good and would have been leagues better than Nixon was
TheThrowawayJames 1y ago I mean one I've often wondered is what if Henry Wallace had been allowed to be the Democratic candidate and won instead of having the DNC push him out in favor of the much less progressive and more conservative Harry Truman A real progressive President seems almost a fantasy in 2024, but to have one in the late 40s would have possibly have been a game changer for the nation and who knows how much better off we'd be today if we had I know it may not have been possible, but one can dream of what

Really_McNamington . 1y ago If the CIA hadn't done a coup against Mossadegh we might well have had a very different history of Iran.
Darmok47 1y ago What if Teddy Roosevelt was nominated by the GOP for the 1912 election? Не was popular enough that he might have won with the backing of the Republican Party, rather than the Bull Moose Party he tried to go with. Plus, he wouldn't be splitting the Republican vote (which is what let Wilson win). If he's President in being the ardent nationalist and interventionist that he is, there's a good chance the he persuades the American people to enter WW1 earlier than in 1917. A lot of things change of that happens. An Entente victory before 1916,
