In a shocking twist, we’ve learned that a number of DeLorean owners won’t be celebrating Back to the Future’s 40th anniversary a week from now. Why? Because they hate that damn movie. “That movie is a blight on DeLorean owners and is no longer relevant. Less than three minutes of DeLorean on screen. It features more incest than car,” wrote one member of a DeLorean Facebook group. “Back to the Future fans are one of the most obnoxious crowds I’ve ever had the displeasure of dealing with,” another chimed in.
As former owners of the Mary Tyler Moore house know, annoying fandoms have been around for decades. When dedicated Mooreheads showed up at the real 119 North Weatherly, the actual resident got so fed up that she began doing anything she could to make footage of the home unusable for producers — like displaying “Impeach Nixon” signs right outside of “Mary’s” window. The home has since changed hands numerous times, but the fans keep coming back, proving that The Mary Tyler Moore Show and being annoying are two things that just won’t die.
