It’s easy to dunk on Jerry Seinfeld for dating a high school student in his late 30s. As one Redditor so aptly put it last spring, “What’s the deal with the extreme left making fun of me for dating a 17-year-old when I was almost 40?” But Seinfeld’s co-star Julia Louis-Dreyfus went where few had before (or likely will again), appearing to make fun of the comedian — both in song and to his face — during a 2000 appearance on The Late Show. In a newly-unearthed clip shared to David Letterman’s YouTube account, the Veep star performed what may have been an equally amusing — and possibly strategic — duet with Seinfeld, belting out “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” from The Sound of Music on national television.
Roasting your co-stars isn’t just an early aughts fad either — take it from Saturday Night Live’s Michael Che, who took aim at his Weekend Update co-anchor, Colin Jost, in a now-vanished Instagram story. “Lol i ever tell yall about the time colin told me and 2 other black writers that slavery wasn’t much different than an internship..?” the comedian wrote alongside what appeared to be a screenshot of a message from a fan. Predictably, the tone of Che’s playful jabs went over some fans’ heads.
Meanwhile, Twitter’s hilarious posters are closing out the workweek with a bang. Today’s funniest tweets include those about Brooklyn real estate, modern-day scams and a good reason for ghosting.
