Los Angeles has gained a powerful ally in the New York versus L.A. debate: Bill Burr. The comedian talked to Variety about CEO murder, his “asshole vibe” and his upcoming Hulu special Drop Dead Years (due out March 14th), and brought up his thoughts on the neverending bicoastal pissing contest. Burr said that his friends constantly call L.A. this “soft place,” but that the real issue is that they “come out here and leave with their tail between their legs because they can’t hack it.”
Despite this declaration of allegiance to the City of Angels, Burr will be spending much more time in New York as he prepares to make his Broadway debut in Glengarry Glen Ross.
Many moons ago, another Bill in New York got some not-so-sage advice from his boss. In recent years, Bill Hader has been an open book about dealing with anxiety during his time at SNL and beyond. Now, the other side of the story is being shared in Susan Morrison’s upcoming biography Lorne: The Man Who Invented Saturday Night Live. An excerpt revealed Lorne Michaels’ tough love approach to Hader’s mental state, detailing a story where Michaels went into Hader’s dressing room and told him, “Calm the fuck down. Just have some fun. Jesus Christ.”
