Despite 2021’s Resurrections being a cautionary tale about re-entering the Matrix, Warner Bros. is gearing up to do just that with a fifth installment of the cultural phenomenon. The Wachowskis, on the other hand, will be taking a step back, as Drew Goddard is set to write and direct a script that’s been described as “honoring what Lana and Lilly began over 25 years ago.” Goddard is no stranger to the world of sci-fi after writing 2008’s Cloverfield and Matt Damon’s Oscar-nominated The Martian. While the Wachowskis won’t be at the helm for the first time in the franchise’s history, Lana is still on board as an executive producer, which may entice Matrix mainstays Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss to reprise their iconic roles.
Elsewhere in the Warner Bros. universe, one comedian is taking his talents from Netflix to HBO as the network has ordered a new half-hour sitcom from former SNL writer and comedian extraordinaire Tim Robinson. The I Think You Should Leave impresario will write, produce and star in The Chair Company, which is said to follow a man who falls down the rabbit hole investigating a conspiracy theory after an embarrassing incident at work. Robinson will also work with longtime creative partner Zach Kanin and has the backing of Adam McKay as an executive producer.
Meanwhile, the posters are back on the timeline for another day of laugh-out-loud tweets. Today’s funniest ones include those about a bank that kicks you when you’re down, the foolproof way to get your partner to answer a simple question and deviled eggs (emphasis on the devil).
