What do you call the sweet fizzy beverages you get in a can, and how old were you when you realized that every region in the US has a different name for it? I grew up calling it “soda” and figured that everyone else did, too. It wasn't until I went to college in the American Midwest that I found out a lot of people refer to these beverages as "pop." Some people can't seem to decide between the two and just call it "soda pop." The worst offenders are those that refer to any fizzy drinks as “Coke" – that's just confusing!
