American movies have portrayed the United States as a force to be reckoned with, the peak of civilization, and the most powerful nation of them all. But we know the truth is nowhere close to that ideal because we see reality everywhere we go. There are no action heroes in our everyday lives, nor a sense of community that holds us together to get through tough times. But there are a lot of people who like to play dress-up to go to Walmart, and we actually love it.
People lacking a sense of fashion, a sense of awareness, or simply common sense can be seen all around us if we pay enough attention, and whether you like it or not, they're the ones making the United States what it is today.
