Comedy continues to be under fire from our budding fascist state, and two late-night hosts may find themselves caught in the crosshairs.

According to Oliver Darcy’s Status newsletter, Larry and David Ellison’s Paramount takeover could force Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert off the air, possibly leaving the timeslots open for Trump-approved propaganda in place of late-night criticism of the media conglomerate and the Trump administration. 

In other government-comedian crossover news, 9/11 is what actually led to Ellen DeGeneres’ fall from grace. At least, according to the Domino Effect Theory, which begins with Gerard Way starting My Chemical Romance and ends with Dakota Johnson’s infamous “That’s not true, Ellen…” on-air rebuttal. 

It’s hard to believe that fate brought us here, but thank you, Dakota Johnson. Your web truly does connect us all. 

And, of course, people on Twitter have spent their time stringing words into hilarious tweets. This week’s funniest posts included those about a family heirloom, an unnatural hot dog and a child that followed instructions.
