41 of the Funniest Burns from the Week of January 27, 2025

There’s been a lot of talk about who is going to take part in the next phase of the Avengers films. Robert Downey Jr.’s short-lived retirement from the MCU came to an end with a blockbuster announcement that he’d be donning Dr. Doom’s mask in Avengers: Doomsday. And Benedict Cumberbatch swore that he wasn’t appearing in it, only to walk it back hours later by saying, “Don’t ever believe anything I say.” Meanwhile, Chris Evans has leapt to deny headlines that his Captain America was returning for Doomsday, telling Esquire that he’s “happily retired!”
After Evans refuted the rumors, one Twitter user noted that Evans is very clearly leaving his schedule open for much more profound work — like a Red One sequel.
Evans’ questionable career choices weren’t the only thing taking a beating on the timeline this week, though. Other digital burn victims include kinksters, theater kids and “scenic” Kansas City.
