Maybe everything is just one massive ad, after all.
Perhaps Jimmy Fallon has found a way to save late-night shows? It’s no surprise that The Tonight Show has basically become an ad for all of Fallon’s extracurricular projects — from his On Brand series to, now, some truly ugly Christmas ornaments.
Every segment of the show seems to have a sponsor. Just last night, they aired a brand-new bit: the Amazon Five-Star Theater Challenge in partnership with Amazon. A bit redundant. The entire game is built around guessing what you can buy from the online retailer.
But it’s no news that the late-night talk format is going through a rough patch. With ratings dropping, it hardly makes sense to produce — or even pay for — shows that expensive. So maybe Fallon chopping vegetables with the latest KitchenAid gadget is just a way to keep the show alive through sponsorships.
Though it might look like a sell out, it’s all part of keeping the show's lights on.
And speaking of big shows, Twitter is always there to entertain. Today’s funniest include a puke machine, an extra-long run, and a three-year-old therapist.
