The constant, non-stop loop of Elf season has officially begun and will run straight through Christmas. And now, Warner Bros. has announced the first annual “December the TwELFth” celebration next month, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
On “December 12,” New York City’s Times Square will host a special noon performance of Elf the Musical. The activities go on throughout the day, including pop-up Elf photo stations, Elf merch sales and opportunities to write to Santa Claus, presumably on Elf-themed stationery.
Besides being on cable all the time, Elf will be released in theaters on Dec. 12. But what’s really interesting is that Warner Bros. Discovery is planning to do this every year. And who hates Elf? Well, apparently, people who watch HGTV — the channel devoted to design and remodeling.
Lately, HGTV has been airing Elf nonstop, and one user even wrote, “This is the second week in a row that some lame azz old movie is on HGTV. Where are the design shows?!?”
The spirit is there, but maybe it’s a little too much. Whenever you’re feeling wistful about a holiday, Twitter always manages to crack the best jokes. Today’s funniest include a Jamaican masterpiece, Minnie Mouse with buccal fat removal and Kermit The Frog.
