Davidson returned to the ‘Weekend Update’ desk last Saturday, more than three years after he departed SNL. Throughout the segment, he joked about his rumored financial troubles for buying a ferryboat, saying, “In case you're wondering why I had to do a show in Saudi Arabia, we’re losing millions on this ferry.”

At one point, he even took a jab at Lorne Michaels. 

“If Lorne Michaels has taught us anything, it’s that you never, ever give up — even if everyone says your time has come and Tina Fey is ready to take over for you.” To soften the blow, Pete quickly turned the joke back on himself.
