The Trump administration wants you to know that they had nothing to do with the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! 

On Monday, White House communications director Steven Cheung claimed that government pressure didn’t play a role in ABC’s decision to briefly pull the late-night show from the airwaves last week. Instead, Cheung blames “tanking ratings” and Kimmel’s status as “a no-talent loser” as the culprits. “That’s why the network kicked him to the curb like a used empty beer can,” he told Entertainment Weekly. 

While Cheung took aim at Kimmel, President Donald Trump dunked on David Letterman, slamming the ex-CBS host as an all-caps “LOSER!!!” after the comic criticized the ongoing Kimmel saga. “Whatever happened to the very highly overrated David Letterman, whose ratings were never very good, either,” Trump wrote on Truth Social before conceding one point to the TV star: “At least he knew when to quit.”
