Speaking of Mary Ann, some conspiracy-minded Gilligan’s Island fans argue that the show’s Kansas sweetheart sabotaged the ill-fated boat trip. According to the dark fan theory, Mary Ann’s experience living on a farm meant she likely saw the storm coming from a mile away, but chose not to say anything. Most believers of this theory chalk it up to her wanting a fresh start somewhere far away from her hometown, while others claim that Mary Ann was secretly a Soviet spy on a top-secret mission to learn The Professor’s secrets.
