Confused by the multi-dimensional lore of the Rick and Morty universes? Kari Wahlgren is too. 

As the show’s eighth season continues to air on Adult Swim, Wahlgren, who has voiced several characters, including Rick’s late wife, Diane, and Morty’s crush, Jessica, says that she “keep(s) up as best” as she can with the series’ ever-deepening lore. 

“I really enjoy the show, but I say this with a lot of respect: There are smarter people than me behind the curtain,” Wahlgren recently told Cracked’s Brian VanHooker. “The people writing and masterminding the show are just so smart that sometimes I’m like, ‘Wow, I’m tapping out.’ ‘This reference has been too smart for me,’ or ‘Wow, I do not understand the quantum physics at this point.’”

While Wahlgren is understandably confused about her show’s expanded lore — and who isn’t, other than that one copypasta guy? — Nick Offerman has no doubts about the many facets of Ron Swanson. “Dumb people insist that Ron Swanson would’ve voted for Trump. He would think he’s an absolute idiot,” Offerman explained during a recent conversation with IndieWire, citing the POTUS’ history of being “disrespectful to women and many others.” “That’s just an example of all the people and value sets that Ron would despise, because Ron is a good person.”
