‘They should get Luigi Mangione on ‘Hot Ones’ when he’s released’

The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia/Abbott Elementary crossover is one of the most publicized sitcom events in recent TV history, but Abbott star William Stanford Davis says he was left in the dark about who, exactly, would be gracing the halls of his beloved TV school.

During a recent conversation with Cracked, Davis revealed that he was forced to guess at which TV stars would be dropping by Abbott Elementary after his coworkers refused to specify that they were collaborating with the Always Sunny gang. “I had to figure it out,” Davis recalled. “I’m the oldest guy on the lot, and they wouldn’t tell me. Someone just said, ‘We’re going to have a crossover.’ I’d ask, ‘With who?’ and they wouldn’t tell me anything.”

After pondering what shows take place in Philadelphia, Davis eventually deduced that the Abbott Elementary staff would be linking up with the Paddy’s Pub crew. “I figured it out, and I went to everybody and said, ‘So you all aren’t going to tell me it’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia?’”

With both parts of the crossover now available on streaming, Danny DeVito teased what’s left to come in the rest of Always Sunny’s 17th season, hinting that a Taxi reunion is already en route to a TV near you. “That was big for all of us,” he said of rejoining his former co-stars on set. “We were blessed to have that in our show.”
