31 Cringey Valentine’s Day Moments Witnessed by Restaurant Workers

Though that one scene in The Office reminds us it’s possible to feel God’s presence in a Chili’s, it’s truly impossible to feel romance in an Olive Garden — especially if it’s Valentine’s Day. 

One Redditor remembers bearing witness to a horrifying sight while working at the chain restaurant. A young man stood up and tapped his empty wine glass until he got the entire room’s attention. He then knelt down on one knee and asked his date to “accept this promise ring.” She, of course, looked horrified from start to finish. 

Those aren’t the only times Cupid’s arrow missed the mark either. Other such Valentine’s Day disasters include an extreme-couponing husband, a proposal that ended in the emergency room and way too many people spending the night at Buffalo Wild Wings.
