Coyote vs. Acme may have been shelved, but at least the cast and crew got together to give the film a proper burial. Star Lana Condor disclosed to Screen Rant that after David Zaslav’s infamous cancellation of the Warner Bros. live-action/animated comedy, she was invited to a “funeral viewing” of the film. While Condor had no other updates on the status of the movie, she continued to lament the loss of what she considers to be her best work to date.
Meanwhile, Steven Spielberg recently discussed the movies he’s personally put the kibosh on. During a conversation with Drew Barrymore at the TCM Classic Film Festival, Spielberg shared that following the success of E.T., he pushed to put a “freeze on sequels, remakes and other ancillary uses of the IP.” Spielberg’s “hard-fought victory” inspired him to acquire such “freeze rights” for future projects, too, which means that Universal can’t make a Fabelmans sequel without his blessing.
