After the ongoing L.A. wildfires extended the deadline for Oscar voting, the Academy is finally ready to unveil the lucky few who made the cut — news that will be delivered by Saturday NightRachel Sennott and SNL’s Bowen Yang. The pair of writer-comedians will announce the nominees across all 24 Oscar categories on Thursday morning. Unfortunately, the Academy’s annual Nominee Luncheon was canceled, but the funds that would have produced the event have been reallocated for fire-relief efforts instead.

As non-essential events surrounding the Grammys have been similarly canceled, the main ceremony will move ahead as scheduled and will do so with a “renewed sense of purpose (in) raising additional funds and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders.” Part of the Recording Academy’s efforts to keep the show running smoothly includes bringing back Trevor Noah to host for the fifth consecutive year.

Meanwhile, the timeline is back at it with its signature brand of humor. Today’s funniest tweets include those about the duality of the martini, a universal critique and the movie that’s decidedly not of the popcorn variety.
