The highly-anticipated two-part crossover between Abbott Elementary and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia hasn’t even hit the airwaves yet, but the Abbott crew has already cooked up a bunch of other hilarious crossover ideas. Creator Quinta Brunson is eyeing a game show like America Says or Survivor, writer Joya McCrory suggested calling up a favor from 9-1-1 and Jordan Temple pointed out that Abbott is almost begging for Mr. Johnson to make an appearance on The Golden Bachelor.
Naturally, most of their suggestions are Disney properties, as Brunson admitted that the Abbott and Always Sunny crossover likely wouldn’t have happened without the “corporate synergy” of ABC and FX falling under Mickey’s umbrella.
Speaking of Disney, a new Star Wars film was removed from the release slate quicker than you can say, “Disney announced a new Star Wars movie.” An untitled addition to the space opera was announced last week for a Christmas 2026 release, only to be scrubbed soon thereafter. While the mysterious film has been shipped off to a galaxy far, far away, 2026 won’t be entirely devoid of the iconic franchise. Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian and Grogu is in post-production with a May 2026 release still in its sights. What’s taking the other Star Wars movie’s place instead? A sixth installment of Ice Age — a film that everyone has definitely been eagerly anticipating.
Meanwhile, the timeline is getting the new week started with a fresh batch of hysterical tweets. Today’s funniest include those about a woman of contradiction, a future punishment for Jake Paul and an emotion for Inside Out 3.
