You don’t need to hire a highly trained spy to uncover the fact that everyone and their mother is trying to nab a role on Prime Video’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith — especially after the series dominated the Best Guest Star category at the Emmys this year. But as character actors and beloved supporting stars alike call their agents, the question still remains as to who will take the helm of playing John and Jane for Season Two should Donald Glover and Maya Erskine be one and done. Half of that answer may come in the form of singer Billie Eilish, who Deadline suggests is the streamer’s top choice to take on the code name. Perhaps the SNL writers’ room can cook up a sketch or two for the Grammy winner to test out her acting chops when she appears as the show’s musical guest this weekend.
Meanwhile, Owen Wilson is responsible for one particular SNL sketch that never happened. Former cast member Melissa Villaseñor, who is known for her stellar impersonation of the Wedding Crashers actor, wanted to bring that impression to Studio 8H when Wilson hosted the show back in 2021, but he wasn’t having it. Villaseñor joined Dana Carvey and David Spade on their Fly on the Wall podcast this week and told them that Wilson said the Wilson impression was “over.” Wilson even went as far as to say that people didn’t want it anymore. Of course, the people in question were likely just a party of one: Wilson himself.
Over on Twitter, the timeline is wrapping up the week with some great tweets. Today’s funniest include those about the perfect costume for Dennis and Dee Reynolds, henchman-approved emojis and how it feels to reference a New Yorker article.
