Why not both?

The biggest night in television returned for the second time this year, and as expected, FX’s The Bear came out on top.

Repeat winners Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach helped the much debated series to a total of 11 wins. But despite a red hot showing, the series was burned in comedy’s biggest category when Hacks came away with the Outstanding Comedy Series prize. The HBO show also saw Jean Smart nab her third victory for her performance as Deborah Vance and a writing win for Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky. That said, Hannah Einbinder was expected to score her first win as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, but The Bear’s Liza Colón-Zayas surprised everyone by becoming the first ever Afro-Latina winner in the category in the ceremony’s 76-year history.

The night also saw Ron Howard and Henry Winkler reuniting for a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Happy Days prior to presenting Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series. Saturday Night Live received a similar tribute when SNL greats past and present joined forces to present Alex Edelman with Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special.

In between all those tweets complaining that The Bear is decidedly not a comedy were many others that were certifiably hilarious. Today’s funniest include those about the saddest place on Earth, a 45-minute education and the girl with more than just a smoking habit.
