I don’t get it… why do you keep laughing?

The Simpsons has once again predicted the future (and yes, we know how much such proclamations annoy the show’s creators). On Wednesday night, Cypress Hill celebrated the 30th anniversary of its chart-topping second album Black Sunday with the help of the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) at the Royal Albert Hall. If this scenario rings a bell (or orchestral chime?), it’s because a similar one played out in a 1996 Simpsons episode in which the California rappers were joined by the LSO. B-Real told the BBC that making the 28-year-old joke a reality was something the band has “talked about since the Simpsons episode first aired.”

Meanwhile, another classic sitcom almost looked very different. While Steve Carell was the face of the American adaptation of The Office, Michael Scott was almost played by Bob Odenkirk. The Better Call Saul actor appeared on the Office Ladies podcast where he shared some insight into the audition process. Odenkirk described himself as “oddly earnest” in a way that’s detrimental to comedy and confessed that Carell is “better at being genuinely fun.” But the Emmy winner eventually got his Office moment to “show people what (he) would have done” with a guest appearance during the show’s ninth and final season.

The timeline is doing its job and brewing up some laughs as we reach the homestretch of another week. Today’s funniest tweets include those about boy math, a borb worth pondering and the poetry of tofu.
