In the less savory corners of the social internet, you hear a lot of chatter about movies that “couldn't be made today.” Usually, they're talking about beloved comedies that absolutely could get made today, as evidenced by their continued belovedness. They might be off-color, but so is their audience, and it turns out a lot of people still know what satire is.

There are, however, definitely some movies that everyone always kinda side-eyed but straight-up could not convince a studio to give them a budget these days. Sometimes, it's because culture and technology has just moved on in a way that renders the plot nonsensical, but usually, it's racism. Like, “offensive even in Trump's America” racism.
